A cake tin and a half!

Gib's mum just arrived back home today, after being in America for almost a month. Apart from bringing home lots of crazy stories, she also brought home this...

...for me! I couldn't believe it! Not only because it is just a totally amazing cake tin (it's a Nordic tin, like the castle tin), but because, unknown to Gib's mum, I was planning to make Gib an octopus cake for his birthday next week! I am so excited, I can't wait to try it out.

Gib's mum is so lovely. She's so patient and tolerant and calm (I guess living in a house with three males will do that to you). She always takes things - and people - as they come. I have a lot to learn from her.

Ooohhh - that tin looks amazing! I was given the Nordicware castle tin last year and it has made some absolutely fantastic birthday cakes for the boys. One spray of Baker's Joy and the cake just drops out ... sensational!

Happy octopus baking!

wow! this tin is crazy. it's amazing that the cake can slide out so easily without getting stuck in all the intricate little parts!

and so sweet that Gib's mum thought of you. She must know you well.

In answer to the zebra mane question.. I just did it as the book said. looping the wool and then tying one end, cutting the loops on the other end and hand sewing the knobbly part to his head.. I might have to send through the diagram cause i'm not too sure that explains what I'm talking about well! hehe

What a fabulous tin! I just saw the cake in a later post, and wondered how the heck you made it. I adore this so much!! I have cake-tin-envy.
